This Blog Needs A New Name
Don't you think?
I was uninspired when I signed up for this TypePad trial period, and was also ensnared in some decidedly un-civil wrangling making me feel like civil litigation and civil procedure is anything but. So I intended to come up with a name that was at least quasi-legal, upon which I could make wry and ironic comments and gripes about the legal process.
As it turns out, that isn't what I've wanted to say after all. Mostly, I'm really happy about my job and the world I live in and the work I do. And I talk about law sometimes, but I don't particularly intend to make the substance of the law as my focus the way Professor Bainbridge or Eugene Volokh do. Instead I'm just talking about myself here, and my life, and the questions that come up as I muddle through my days, most of which are spent being a young business and bankruptcy lawyer at a little firm in Maine. Obviously because law is where I spend a lot of my time, the culture and the people and the lifestyle and the mysteries are going to occupy their share of mental real estate.
Things weighing in favor of getting a new name:
The current name is dull. Ethical Esq. was first to decry the name.The current name is misleading. People are finding me when they are searching for "civil procedure interesting" -- sorry law students, can't help you with that. I can't even tell you much about civil procedure. Back to your Nutshells.
Things weighing against it:
Some people have linked to it and refer to it as my blog. I don't want to put out or put off the few readers kind enough to link to me.I haven't come up with an alternative name, mostly because I've taken the position that, "I made this bed, now I have to lie in it," namewise.
Anyone have any thoughts or advice?
Make a very slight name change based on the original but somehow making it clear that it's an ironic twist on the term. "A Civil Proceduralist" perhaps?

I cast my vote in favor of keeping the name you first chose. (1) Most blog names correspond only loosely to what their blogs are about. (2) As search technology improves, fewer and fewer people looking for civ pro advice will come here. (3) Your content will make the name un-boring.

Change it. You're right that the name is misleading. You haven't been operating for years underneath that name, you've barely got a toehold compared to what you'll have if you really commit to the project of blogging. Change it.

I've changed my site name so many times. Your faithful readers will stick through it.
I vote for changing it. I almost bypassed your site because I thought it was one of those law blogs that talked about current events in the law. I'm glad I kept reading. Nice site!

Do you have less than stellar credit? If so, you probably know just how difficult it is to get a credit card. If you've looked, no doubt you have found plenty of companies out there that will offer to help you rebuild your credit rating by issuing a credit card. For some people, it is worth it to...
