Another thing I observed in passing at Pop!Tech: people like to use the word "paradigm" but they are somehow embarrassed to use it, so they apologize. "Forgive the expression, but we'll need a paradigm shift in the way we approach X." I heard that maybe six times, from the stage and in conversation. Why is everyone so afraid to say "paradigm"? And if it's such a lousy expression, why is everyone using it?
Back in the early days of the web, it was a term that was relentlessly overused, and got a bit of a reputation.
Indeed, one of my favorite Dilbert punchlines was:
"Pop!"
"What's that?"
"That's the sound of a paradigm shifting without a clutch."

Yeah, I noticed that too. I don't think people should be embarrassed to use a term that conveys a thought accurately.
