A very nice thing happened to me on Friday, which was that Mike selected this blog from his blogroll for praise and recommendations (okay, he selected me by throwing a virtual dart, but I'll take it....). From what I gather, this "Blog it Forward" experiment is like the Wave or something propagating around the blogosphere -- you get tapped by someone who's got you on their blogroll, you tap someone else from your blogroll to highlight and send your readers off to discover, and hope they tap someone else, etc.
Which now means I get to pick someone from the rolls. Nepotism might send me to Mom or Dad, but I'm trying to be professional here. Professor Bainbridge and Three Years of Hell are similarly out. (Because we started our blogs around the same time and because they've each been kind and encouraging to me I've come to think of them as blog siblings of a sort.) And most of my readers come from their sites anyway so I wouldn't be doing anyone a particular service.
The blog I've decided to recommend is JOHO the blog, by David Weinberger. I've been reading that blog since before it was a blog, if that's possible -- back when it was an e-zine I was reading David's snippets about the Internet, social networking technologies, and miscellaneous observations. He is occasionally a snarky political blogger (for which I tend to deduct points from my favorite blogs), but unlike most of the bloggers I seem to read he's left leaning and thus his snarky politics are a lot closer to my own views. Anyway, David is a Big Thinker, a good writer, and a self-deprecating guy, who has broad interests and talks about technology in a way I like very much. David, you're it.
