Coffee Craving
I've been off coffee for so many years now (6 or more?) that I rarely think about it, but today brewing up a pot of watery-thin tea I just had an overwhelming craving for the satisfaction of a strong cup of coffee, with all its body and vigor, maybe a little cream in there. Mmmmmm. When you drink a cup of coffee you are really drinking something. Tea, well, I do love it and I drink all different kinds, but even lapsang souchang has got nothing on a cup of coffee. And this herbal licorice stuff I'm drinking today? Please.
Don't quit. I'm telling you this now. Because you can't go back.
I love lapsang. I drink it sparingly, as it is such a strong, assertive almost tarry beverage. Everytime I drink it reminds me of my grandparents, who drink only Lapsang Souchung and pair it (quite perfectly, I think) with toasted english muffins spread with a hint of butter and bittersweet English orange marmalade. Talk about a great way to wake up the tastebuds. :)

You can go back. After breaking the habit once and drinking only decaf for a couple of years, I slipped and got regular...felt sooooo good that day that here I am back on the juice again. I do keep it to one triple espresso drink per day and only in the AM...I cannot imagine quitting again!

Do you drink decaf tea? If not, why not just drink coffee?
If it's the caffeine that you are concerned with, what would be wrong with going to decaf coffee? Then you at least get the coffee taste...

It's not the caffeine, I'm afraid. I drink plenty of that in my tea. Instead its something about coffee itself -- now when I drink it it makes my insides feel all gross and dirty and toxic. The smell is great and the flavor is still good (although strong) but the minute I swallow it I feel this need to drink a whole lot of water and clean out my system. It just feels really unhealthy. It's not pleasant at all, and I'm not sure how to shake those sensations and get back to the wonderful ordinary pleasure of a cup of coffee.

Why do I crave coffee like this. I wake up wanting coffee and I crave coffee in the evening
