That I had a bank of mature lilac trees in my yard, white ones and purple ones. There is a vase bursting with them, from our office manager's tree, and it's hard to walk past without stopping and revelling in the smell. Maybe after I get rid of the Forsythia Bush That Wants To Take Over The World I can put in some lilacs.
That smell is one of my fondest childhood memories. We had an enormous lilac bush (tree?) in our back yard and the branches would sag with tons of these huge heavy blooms. I loved the smell. Thanks for the memory jog.

I have three in my yard (2 purple, one white). Sadly, the purple ones are almost finished. The white one, which blooms a little later, has about a week left. They were wonderful this year.
