Last night it was thick and hot and I watched the thunderclouds thicken and form in the hazy air and then the squalls pushed through and even the rain didn't cool things off. Some friends stopped by my house and we ended up inventing a cocktail we decided to call the Sultry Night (vodka, lime juice (both fresh and Rose's) and sparkling water).
But today out my window it is clear and fresh and sunny with a moderate sea breeze and the trees in the full green of summer and the ocean its good strong blue, and there are boats on Casco Bay and people walking their dogs and it makes me think of the Mary Oliver poem The Summer Day. I think Mary Oliver is sort of overexposed but I do like this poem; it's been on my wall near my computer for a year or so now. Enjoy the day.
it's weird to think that your posts about the weather are part of what really attracts me to this blog. that would be hard to explain to someone else.
but they are just really good.
