Something interesting is happening. People around town now generally know I'm available, and looking for interesting things to do. I am beginning to get propositions from unexpected quarters. Some are personal (friendly gentlemen with unknown intentions have suggested I accompany them to France, Denmark, and Scotland, so far) and others are professional. Some are in-between. People are starting to see me as a resource, or to imagine me in the role of collaborator, assistant, or project manager for their pet projects. This has made for some great conversations so far. It feels rich with possibility.
Just following up on this post, I wanted to express that from the solo attorney's perspective, it's very useful knowing about people in your situation who are in between positions. I almost always have short term projects to farm out to qualified people who may want some quick cash or something interesting to do for a couple of days that won't substantially interfere with the job hunt. In fact, when I learn of someone qualified who needs quick work, I more likely to go out of my way to find a project that I've been putting off just so that I can outsource it. So to those in Sherry's position, I urge you to make yourselves known because there are many people out there who would be glad to have your services for as long as you're willing, available and able.
