Beyond the generalized rooting we all do for the Americans, a couple of women I sailed against regularly in college will be sailing in the Olympics. I've been following Katie McDowell and Isabelle Kinsolving's progress with interest, as well as Meg Gaillard's. In school Meg and Katie each beat me regularly, but not always -- maybe three out of five races. So it's inspiring to see how they've climbed into the realm of the world class sailors.
Actually there are familiar faces in many of the classes, and a local boy is there as training partner / team alternate for the Men's 470 class. Such a cool thing.
