Darkness Falls

This morning when I got up at quarter to six to walk it was nighttime dark, not dawn dark. And now at 6:16 it's nighttime dark, not dusk dark. Coming into November is so hard for me, with the days so short and grey, and the knowledge that they're only going to get shorter and shorter for another two months. By the solstice, it will be dark at 4.

It might be the only thing I dislike about living in New England. Okay maybe the natives' accents. Two things.

Every so often someone makes noises about shifting Maine to Atlantic Time. While it would be a serious pain trying to do business with the rest of the country, something about the idea tickles my contrary side.
