Taunting Happy Fun Ball is doing something very cool -- facilitating a blog mix-CD exchange, where participants make a mix CD and send it off to someone, and get a mix from a stranger. Go here to sign up. I've just joined up, but I figured I'd go one better. I'll make 10 copies of my mix CD. The first one will go to the person Mr. Fun Ball signs me up to send it to. The next 9 will go to the first nine people who email me with their address. (Put "CD mix" in the subject line, because I'm a bit of a doofus about sorting my email.) This is fun. I'll try to put songs on there by good storytellers, with imagery that's sad and sweet, voices that are authentic and vulnerable, musicians that captivate me.
[UPDATE: I've heard from 9 folks. That filled up kind of quickly. Sorry. I suppose if we wanted to get ambitious we could do some kind of chain letter thing -- I could give each of the 9 recipients an address of someone to copy the tape for? Or I'll just send out these 9. I'm open to either proposal, although I can only promise that the first 9 will get one from me.]
[UPDATE 2: Oh, heck, this is too fun, and I don't want to turn down the folks who emailed me before I got that post up. So I'll buy 20 blank CDs. 8 slots left, if anyone wants 'em; drop me a line with your mailing address.]
[UPDATE 3: We're full up. CDs will go out tomorrow to IL, WA, MA, OH, DC, TX, PA, CO, NH, MN, KS, VA. I'll post a songlist when I think the folks getting hard copies have received them.]
Maybe you could post the list of songs, so other readers could go investigate them if they felt so inclined?

you know me, always reluctant to be the downer. but if i were the RIAA I'd start something like this and soon have myself a nice list of defendants.
aren't you all lawyers?
much love

You're right, aac, the RIAA do appear to frown on non-sanctioned people advertising their products and driving up their sales. The law may well be against it, as well, but in this instance the law is an ass.
Hm. Speaking of lawyers, why hasn't their ever been a shareholder lawsuit over that? Record sales climbed faster than the economy in the final two quarters when Napster was in business. Record sales have sharply declined ever since the RIAA legal efforts became more diligent. Hard to see how RIAA membership is anything but a waste of shareholder money.

Apologies for the their/there mindo/spello/typo.

Agreed fully - the law *is* an ass. A big one with lots of ugly lumps. I've long been amazed at their desire to drive themselves out of business with their own lawyers.

Dr. Harold Katz said one-third of the population suffers from bad breath and some don't even know it.
"That's because you can't smell your own breath," he said, adding that your brain gets used to your own odor, a process called acclimation.
Katz, founder of California Breath Clinics, said the foods you consume play a direct role in odors you emit from your mouth.
According to the American Dental Association, mouth odors will continue until the body eliminates the food Buy cialis online. So from the time you take a bite of that garlic bagel, it becomes absorbed in the bloodstream, gets transferred to the lungs and is then expelled you give off a scent.
Obvious foods such as garlic, onions and curry can directly cause bad breath because they contain sulfur compounds, which is what people smell in bad breath. But Katz said there are less obvious foods that can make your breath clear a room. http://www.buycialisonline01.fora.pl/ Buy Cialis Online
Feeding Bacteria In The Mouth
One bad breath myth he wants to debunk is that bad breath comes from the stomach.
In almost every case, he said, a smelly mouth is caused by bacteria that breed beneath the surface of the tongue, throat and tonsils.
Some foods play an indirect role because they provide fuel for the anaerobic sulfur-producing bacteria that produce chronic halitosis, he said.
Katz said dairy foods like milk, cheese and yogurt can also cause breath problems.
