Dog Noises
My dog is in the next room. She just stretched -- I could hear the jingle of her collar and the deep, satisfied breath. Then she shook her head. There's a way that she shakes her head from side to side to adjust her ears that gives a quick little flap-flap-flap sound. Now she's lying down, with an expectant audible breath that's the subtler cousin of a whine, hoping for breakfast. She's opening and closing her mouth, licking her lips, and I hear tongue, saliva, breath. She gets up and comes in and gives me a hopeful look, wagging her tail, then gives up and goes back in to lie down. A heavy sigh, and, a moment later, snoring.
why didn't you give the poor little puppy a cookie. He'd like a cookie. C'mon. Just a little treat and a pat on the head.
