A friend I haven't seen in a few months is on his way over. We were going to go to the art museum and then get dinner, but the day is too beautiful for that so we've decided to jump on a ferry and go out to one of the islands.
Tomorrow night I'm going out to a different island, that I haven't set foot on in fifteen years or more, to a fundraiser for a nonprofit that teaches kayaking and life skills to at-risk youth. The moon will be huge and yellow, and I'm going as the guest of a friend whose business is a major donor, and I've long admired the nonprofit, and there will be dinner and drinks and salsa dancing and exploring, and a mix of friends and strangers who I think I'll like.
On Sunday I'm going on a foray for wild mushrooms with the Maine Mycological Society. Wowsers. Even if I don't find any mushrooms, I'm bringing along this book, that a generous blog reader sent me after reading these two posts, so I know I'll be rewarded for peering at the ground carefully.
