I'm not blogging here anymore. (I'm not a sailing coach anymore, either, nor practicing law, in case you're really mixed up). But I am blogging, with my friend Megan, in a new spot. It's called Rhubarb Pie, and I hope you'll consider coming to read.

My goodness - a blog titled, Rhubarb Pie? Wow - memories... My dear grandmother (bless her soul) would have us eating rhubarb pies all summer long, upon our visits to her cottage, in northern Michigan. My brother and I would often spend a week there. As kids, our choices were limited, and good manners dictated that we eat every little morsel of her wide, and various rhubarb delicacies. But its the memory of the rhubarb pies, jams, and drinks that real burn in my memory.
I suppose my grandmother grew up in a different time, and it felt good for her to be able to depend on her crop of rhubarb for daily sustenance, while also providing enough for everyone else. She was not enslaved to the other foods people have to get at a grocery store or restaurant to get. She had a huge garden at her home, which was left alone for a week or two every summer.
In a way, I can relate to my grandmothers gardening and love of rhubarb. I personally enjoy the satisfaction of growing my own raspberries, beans, peas, peppers, and tomatoes. But there is no way I'm going to attempt to eat raspberries, everyday, no matter how many dozens of pints we end up picking. Also, it looks like we're going to get about 3 or 4 pumpkins this fall - hoping to save on buying these.
Have fun with the new blog.
