The university has a sailing team, and there's a local high school sailing team that practices with them. Their practice spot is in the harbor right out my window. There are 8 small sailboats out tacking and gybing around. They are being wimpy (perhaps because it is damn cold) because a little further out than where they are sailing the breeze is a lot stronger. Anyway, it looks like fun. The boats they are sailing once belonged to the Yale team, in fact, they are the same boats I sailed in my senior year.
In ancient times the Yale alumni bought a big fleet of 420's for the Yale Sailing club. Many years later, I still recall fondly that during the summer I would call the club each afternoon at 3:00 to find out what the wind conditions were, so that my wife and I could spend the time before dinner sailing. I can't tell from the picture but the boats look pretty similar to those we had then
