My laptop is periodically, but with some regularity, failing to see its hard drive. Or booting and then freezing with a message "initiating physical memory stack dump" or some such. It's working for the moment. I'm trying to send all the files I need to my Gmail account. But my entire music library is on the HD. I am not sure how to save it.
Crap crap crap.
I may be offline for a while. If you need to reach me, please call rather than email.
It wouldn't happen to be a Toshiba 6100 would it? Mine is starting to throttle as well so I know a hard drive crash is due to occur soon.
I've spent the past week transferring all pertinent files to an external hard drive. I would suggest you do the same. You can pick up a 40 Gig external drive for around $125 or less.

If you don't already have one, it might be a good excuse to invest in an Ipod. They function as external hard drives and probably have enough disk space to hold everything you've got. I did that when my Toshiba bit the dust - best money I ever spent.
