Well, that's a cop-out, I suppose. But since last October, when I saw him at Pop!Tech, talking about how increased choices can make us paralyzed, dissatisfied, and unhappy, I've thought a lot about Barry Schwartz's words. I read his book, and it, too, makes a lot of sense to me. You can listen to Barry Schwartz's talk here, online or on your iPod, if you're into that sort of thing.
So I guess my How To Be Happy take-away is this: Don't keep all your options open. That's no way to live. Choose something, commit to it, and don't fuss about what you're giving up.
