I had an idea as I was falling asleep about what I want from you for my birthday, which is next week. I want to have a virtual birthday party, with my readers as my guests. Send me a picture. Preferably of yourself, if you're cool with that. If not it can be a picture of something that matters to you: your kid or your dog or your house or the seedlings on your windowsill. But it should be from your life and it should mean something -- no clip art, no clever pictures of celebrities. I'll put all the pictures in a Typepad photo album and we'll pretend we're all mingling and laughing and talking at my house at a fun and eclectic birthday party.
So that's my birthday wish. Email a picture from your life to [email protected]. If you're shy, you don't have to tell me your name, or that it's you. But I'm glad you're part of this weblog family, and I'd love to have a picture. It'll be kind of fun if everyone does it, I think, and it will mean a lot to me.
UPDATE: The guests are starting to arrive, and you guys are such an interesting crowd. I'm thrilled to host y'all. I love this. Please, please participate. I am more delighted by this than by anything I've done yet with the weblog (although the Buick contest was fun, too). It means a lot to me. Please come join us. I'll post the gallery when we've got pictures from two dozen of you. I'm leaving this post on top for a while. Okay, enough begging. But if you're reading this, whether I know you in real life or not, I'd love a picture. Thanks.
Yours would surely be one of the most unique birthday party I’ll ever know pal. Is it OK if I send in pictures of food, drinks, disco ball, colorful light, and music equipment? A birthday party is not a birthday party without these party stuff.
By the way please send everyone a copy of your party ok?

I don't think a virtual birthday party is the same.
