I've been spending a lot of time on my hands and knees, scraping the front hallway floor. It takes forever, is dusty and dirty and tiring, and is giving me callouses in new locations on my fingers. It's not as glamorous as it sounds. Turns out there's wood under that ugly linoleum that was there. Meanwhile, NBT has been tiling and painting the bathroom, and cleaning up all the ragged seams and cracks that I left from my installation of the shower a year and a half ago. The house is full of tools and displaced objects from these rooms. It's slow going.
I've also been reading Anna Karenina, watching Lost, advising undergraduates about career options, planning for the sailing season, skiing, trying to keep up with all the magazine subscriptions we get, and, I'm afraid, playing World of Warcraft.
